Historic Wimbledon Tavern is a true country pub, original in style and setting. An enduring oasis that has been welcoming travellers for 125 years. Your hosts Robert and Lorraine de Visser are proud to keep the tradition going. Wimbledon Tavern is situated 20 km south of Porangahau on route 52 in the little farming community of Wimbledon, very close to Herbertville beach and ‘Cape Turnagain', where Captain Cook turned twice. The recently refurbished Wimbledon Tavern now boasts a beautiful decked garden bar were you can relax enjoying a beer and a seafood basket, or perhaps a toasted sandwich and cup of coffee. If that doesn’t tempt your taste buds, our generous menu offers many more choices. Larger groups are easily catered for with an a la carte menu by arrangement.
If you are exploring the Central or Southern Hawkes Bay
coast line and need a place to rest your head, Wimbledon Tavern offers accommodation with all amenities provided. We have a small self contained cosy cottage
for two or the three bedroom lodge adjacent to the pub is ideal for larger groups wanting a night out at the pub.
